Should a homeowner rent a porta potty for a remodel?

A homeowner should rent a porta potty when a crew will work at the house for more than a day and the contract does not include one. One unit keeps workers out of the house, protects floors and saves your bathroom during a remodel. Roof, siding and addition crews expect one on site.

Ask the contractor first: many include a unit in the bid. If they say the homeowner provides it, you can book it yourself in a few minutes. Short roof jobs of up to 7 days can use the flat event price; longer projects switch to 28-day billing with weekly cleaning.

Where do I put a porta potty at my house?

Put the porta potty at the edge of the driveway or on a level side yard, within about 15 feet of where the truck can stop, with the door facing away from the street. Keep it off the public sidewalk and street, which can need a city permit in Florissant, and away from windows.

  • A standard unit needs 48 inches of clear width to pass through a gate.
  • Mark the spot with chalk or a cone and text a photo; the driver calls 30 minutes ahead.
  • Pavers and landscaping: point out sprinkler heads and soft beds. The rental terms note the company is not liable for lawn marks from normal placement.
  • HOA rules in some Florissant and Black Jack subdivisions limit how long a unit can be visible from the street. Check your covenants before a long project.

Questions people ask before they book

Straight answers to the questions renters ask most, from delivery timing to the full price. If your question is not here, call (314) 408-7740 and a real person will answer it in a minute or two, or browse the full list of porta potty rental questions.

My bathroom is out during the remodel and we are hosting a party. Which unit?

Choose a flushing unit with a sink. Guests get a flush and running water, and it starts at $290 for an event-length rental.

Does it come on a skid? Can we move it ourselves?

Standard units sit on a plastic base, not a skid. Please do not move a unit with waste in it; call and we will reposition it.

Can the driver call before arriving so I can show them the spot?

The driver calls about 30 minutes before arrival. If nobody is home, leave a marked spot and a photo by text.

Do I need to be home for pickup?

Nobody needs to be home for pickup if the unit is reachable and the gate is open.

Can it go on an easement next to my yard?

A unit can sit on your side of an easement if the ground is level and it does not block a sidewalk or alley. Public right-of-way placement needs city approval.
