How many porta potties do I need for my party?

A party of up to 4 hours needs 1 standard porta potty for every 50 guests. Add 1 unit for every 5 when alcohol is served, and add capacity for events longer than 4 hours. A 100-guest backyard graduation with a bar usually needs 3 units and 1 handwashing station.

This is Lawson’s planning method. For public events, at least 5% of units in each cluster should be wheelchair-accessible under the 2010 ADA Standards, section 213.2; in practice that means 1 accessible unit per cluster of up to 20. The event calculator works out your exact count.

When is an event porta potty delivered and picked up?

An event porta potty is delivered the business day before your event and picked up the next business day after it. A Saturday party gets a Friday drop-off and a Monday pickup at no extra charge. Units can stay up to 7 days for the same event price.

Drivers run between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and call about 30 minutes before arrival. Nobody needs to be home: mark the spot, unlock the gate and text a photo if the placement is tricky. Weekend deliveries and same-day drops are possible for an added fee when a truck is free.

Where should porta potties go at a backyard party?

Put party porta potties on level ground, about 10 feet from the house and at least 20 feet from food tables, with the doors facing away from the main seating. Pick a spot the truck can reach within about 15 feet. A standard unit needs a 48-inch gate to pass through.

  • Avoid low spots: St. Louis gets its heaviest rain from April through June, and units sink in soft lawns.
  • For evening events, place units near a porch light or ask about a lit flushing unit.
  • Group units together with a handwashing station so guests find everything in one place.
  • Holding the party in a Florissant city park? Pavilions are resident-only, and outside vendors may need written approval. Check the Florissant pavilion rules first.

Do event porta potties include handwashing?

A standard event porta potty includes hand sanitizer, not running water. For food, kids or elderly guests, add a two-station handwashing station with soap and paper towels, or choose a flushing unit with a foot-pump sink inside. One sink-inside unit usually costs less than a unit plus a separate station.

Handwashing stations start at $75 and serve about 350 hand washes per fill. See handwashing station specs and the flushing unit with sink.

Questions people ask before they book

Quick answers to what renters ask right before they commit, covering delivery timing, placement, the full price and how pickup works. For anything else, a real person picks up at (314) 408-7740, and the porta potty rental FAQ covers the rest.

Can I get a porta potty for just one day?

An event porta potty is priced per event, not per day, so one day and up to seven days cost the same. A standard unit starts at $199 including delivery and pickup.

Why do you deliver the day before?

Drivers have no fixed arrival time on event days, so a day-early drop guarantees the unit is in place before guests arrive. You are not charged for the extra day.

Do I have to clean it before pickup?

You do not clean the unit. Leave it as it is, with the door closed and the path clear, and the driver handles the rest.

Is one porta potty enough for 30 to 40 people over a weekend?

One unit handles 30 to 40 guests for a single afternoon. Over a full weekend with the same group, plan 2 units or book a mid-event service so the tank and paper hold out.

Can I get one for men and one for women?

Every standard unit has both a toilet and a urinal, so separate units are a preference, not a need. Many hosts order 2 and tape a sign on each door.

Will someone use it overnight if it sits in my yard?

Units left in a yard rarely draw visitors. For units in public spots such as a park or parking lot, ask for a hasp so you can padlock the door overnight.

Can you put it next to the unit the venue already has?

Units can be grouped side by side if the ground is level and the truck can reach the spot. Tell us when you book so the driver knows where the first unit sits.
